This tutorial is for wordpress beginners who wants to install the wordpress script in their own computers without the need to web hosting service or even to internet connection.

As we know, wordpress is built using php ,the browser like Firefox can't read php scripts,This is the server who can interpret these scripts and send them as an Html page to the browser , this is exactly the case when we host our dynamic website.

Anyway , wordpress need a server to being installed and then to work.

Install XAMPP :

The most popular localhost servers in the internet are MAMPP and XAMPP.  We will use Xampp for this tutorial , but you can try MAMPP , there are no big difference. these softwares are designd for development and testing purposes.

So, the first step , go to www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html     , choose the version of your operating system and then download and install it as installing any usual software , just remember the location of the "Apache Freinds" Folder  as this is were we will put wordpress files.

After installing Xampp  , run it from the launching icon . you will see the Xampp Control Panel similar to the screenshot below :

Xampp control panel

Let's analyse these options :

Apache :  the main server ,
   MySQL : manage Databases.
   FileZilla :  for FTP transfert.
   Mercury : for Email.

The only things that we need to install Wordpress are Apache and MySQL ,So start these services using th "start" button.

Download Wordpress :

Now that our server is working, let's download wordpress .

Go to www.wordpress.org/ and download the latest version  from the home page as shown below :

Follow the instructions of download and Unzip the file into a folder called "wordpress".

Now , go to the folder Apache freinds --->Xampp--->htdocs  (apache freinds/xampp/htdocs)

Note :  in some cases you may find the htdocs folder directly inside Xampp (without Apache freinds)

Copy the wordpress folder and paste it inside htdocs folder. make sure the server is still running !
